It’s been a while….

craft-1

Well it’s been a while since I posted and I’m sorry about that.  Life however, sometimes takes over.  The short version of the story is that we had a family crisis.  My mother had to go into hospital for a major life saving operation, and wasn’t expected to survive.  Fortunately against all the odds she did pull through and is now making a slow but steady recovery.

While crafting didn’t stop it was pretty much limited to sock knitting in the hospital.  There are only so many posts you can write about that!

Anyway, looking for that silver lining I can say it was really good for sock production.  I could now happily stop my socks of the month project now as the sock drawer is full.  I’m not going to though as all the stress, sleepless nights and general kafuffle have left me completely exhausted.  I returned to work this week and it was all I could do to make it safely through to Friday.  So plain old simply sock production will continue for a while until my brain recovers enough to cope with anything more complicated.

So here are some shots of the plain old vanilla socks I’ve been knitting.  I’m rapidly running out of sock yarn again so I sense some yarn shopping in my near future.  Hopefully it won’t be to long before my next post as I have something wonderful to tell you about from Nikki at Sew Quine.

A New Beginning–in a slightly new place

If you’ve been following my blog for a while you’ll have noticed that there has been an increasing number of posts on photography.  This has worried me a little as I didn’t want to bore people with posts on things that don’t interest them.  So I’ve decided to start a second blog on photography.  This little corner of the net from now on will be about crafting and the photo stuff will move over there.

You can find it at blog.fantasiaphoto.co.uk and to try and tempt you over here is a shot which I’ll be posting about later this evening….

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

More housekeeping and fiddling about…

Well the online housekeeping has been continuing with the Fantasia Yarns website having some tweaks to hopefully bring it more in line with everything else.  The Smugmug site has also undergone a few changes but a major overhaul there will need to wait a little longer.

I didn’t want to use the exact same logo as here but I do want them to hint at each other and give a sense of continuation.  So I’ve gone for

Next on the list for an overhaul is the folksy shop.  It’s on ‘holiday’ at the moment (which means you can’t buy anything).  I really need to go through what stock I have left and get sorted.  Unfortunately every time I think I’m on top of it someone delves into it all and I have to start again.  (Yeah I know that someone is often me but ssshhh, don’t tell anyone).  Perhaps that’s a job for tomorrow though…

I’ve also been continuing my trawl through photographs and thought I’d share another with you all.

This lovely young lady is mid fall in one of those big inflatable balls on water that are so popular at the moment.  It looked so much fun but unfortunately they were only letting the kids play so I had to settle for looking on and wishing…

Hello – Glad you made it…

Welcome to my new blog.  Yeah I know it’s just a continuation of the old one, on a new site, with a different layout, but it feels shiny and new to me…

It’s probably going to be undergoing quite a few changes over the next few weeks as the site comes together as a whole (hopefully) and things like the format get tweaked.  I hope you’ll be patient with me…

If you are looking for the old blog you can still find it at

http://fantasiayarns.blogspot.com/

but all new stuff will be posted here.  Oooo it’s all so exciting, which probably says something deep and meaningful about my life, but I’m to tired to worry about it…

100 and what to say?

Well this is my 100th blog post and I’ve been trying to figure out what to say.  I thought about a give away, but haven’t got round to photographing the prizes.  Then I thought about sharing with you the new hat I’ve made (I also designed it but don’t get excited it’s not that flash), trouble is I haven’t worked out how to photograph the back of my head.

Then I remembered that I’ve had a little bit of a revamp and bingo.  I can talk about that.

background-1

Here is the new background it all it’s glory, that is without a post stuck over the top.

Yup, it’s one of my images and is actually dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide) floating on water.  I just love the patterns it makes as it skitters about!  I’ve also changed the blog name from Fantasia Yarns to just Fantasia.  Since I’m not just talking about yarn and yarn related things, I though the title should reflect this.  Hope you like the changes…

Change is coming…

I’ve decided to make some changes to the blog.  When I started writing I envisaged a blog about yarn dyeing and knitting.  However, as it’s evolved it’s changed to include many other things.    I think the blog should reflect that.

My friend Maytheweed has been talking about how she wants her blog to be ‘her place on the web’.  I think she’s right so over the next few weeks I’m hoping to update the graphics and give it an overhaul.  Tonight I changed the name from Fantasia Yarns to simply Fantasia.  I don’t think this affects the blog address though, so hopefully there will be no linking problems.

Anyway please bear with me if the blog goes a little doolally as I get it all sorted……
